Your Baby I'll Be
In a few minutes it will be Mother's Day.
So go call her. [in the morning. I will not have you all blaming me for waking up your poor, dear mothers at almost midnight.] Chances are it's been a while, so call to say hi on her special day. Thank her for all that she has given you. Maybe it's your eyes, your smile, your sense of confidence, or your sense of wonder. She encouraged your talents, stood by you when you were right and gave you absolute hell if you were wrong. Who fixed the boo-boos of children and stuffed animals alike, and tended to the emotional hurts that no one could see. And cut your sandwiches just the way you wanted [diagonal]. Who always wants to know when you are coming home next [when gas prices go down], and who sends you little care packages in the mail for no other reason than she was thinking of you.
For no matter how old you get, you will always be her baby.
I love you, Mom. Happy Mother's Day.
p.s. Go and read PostSecret (but only until the 21st, as they change every week). There are some beautiful and sad postcards for Mother's Day this week.
