Leap of Faith

The job is temporary
may become permanent, may not
the pay is not fantastic
but one does not enter this field to rake in the big bucks

I can always find something else when I am there too

More information as it develops
but as of right now I think I am going to take it

Twinkies Sushi

I kid you not

- 3 Hostess Twinkies
- Assorted dried fruits
- Assorted fruit candies
- 2 green fruit roll-ups
- Dried mangoes (looks like pickled ginger)

Slice Hostess Twinkies into pieces about an inch tall. Slice fruit roll-ups in strips to be long enough and wide enough to wrap around the twinkie pieces. Wrap the fruit roll-ups around the pieces. Place dried fruits and candies into the cream filling. Place twikies on a plate or in a bento box. Garnish with strips of dried mango. Serve with chopsticks if you wish.

Randomness

- Okay, it irked me when they [the town] were putting up Christmas wreathes on telephone polls before Thanksgiving. Now it is down right pissing me off that it is after St. Patrick's Day [and nearly April's Fools] and they are still up.

- Didn't get the job I interviewed for 2 weeks ago. But they did offer me a temporary position that perhaps may become permanent. We shall see.

- Shopping for a new desk is becoming impossible. I just can't be pleased, it seems.

- Greg's birthday is coming up and I have no idea what to get him.

It Was A Good Friday

So Megan and I went out for our weekly dinner. And our waitress spent just as much time sitting on her ass as we did. It's something about us. We either get stuck sitting in a corner of a restaurant, or we get not the greatest service.

Well, we spent time discussing it. And when the bill came we were trying to decide how much to tip her.

Then I noticed she didn't charge the drinks we ordered.

Yay for 12 dollars worth of free alcohol.

She got a slightly better tip than she was originally going to. Though that really isn't saying that much.

Happy Birthday

to Christopher
now 18 years old

He can buy cigarettes, buy PlayBoy, vote, get drafted, and be prosecuted as an adult in a court of law.

What a full birthday.

Back

Now that life has returned to somewhat normal, I will recap what has been happening the past few weeks.

Test

As mentioned earlier, I passed my certification exam. I am now a Laboratory Animal Technician. The computerized test was 155 questions in length and I had 2.5 hours to complete it. This was slightly different from the 150 questions and 3 hour time limit I was expecting. A few times I had to tell my self to slow down and take my time. I was more than a bit nervous. When I had done all the questions, and reviewed them several times it was time to submit my results. The fun thing about the computer exam is that you get to find our almost immediately if you passed or not. After submitting my test, it took about 10-15 seconds for my score to come back. Most certainly the longest seconds of my life. I did pass, but that is all they tell you. I do not know what the passing rate for the exam was, nor will they inform me when I get my certificate. But that is okay. I can certainly live with that.

Job Interview

A few days after my test I had a job interview. I think it went rather well, which is a significant improvement over how I felt after the last interview I went on. I hopefully should be finding out in the next 7 days whether or not they want me. If so, yay. If not, it's back to the drawing board.

Those were the major things. I'm glad both are over. I don't think I could have handled much more stress.

I'll Try and Control Myself

I asked my Mom if it would be okay if my girlfriend came to Easter dinner at my Grandmother's house.

She said of course, but that we should be 'discreate.'
Because [in her words] Grandma is almost 80 and she has enough to deal with when it comes to my brother.

Gee, Mom, we will try and restrain ourselves. I guess my plans to make out with her on the couch in full view of many relatives will have to be put on hold.

[Sarcasm, people. On my list of things to do, giving Grandma a coronary is certainly not one of them.]

It Rubs The Lotion On Its Skin

or else it gets the hose again.

My mother hates that line from 'Silence of the Lambs.'

Every once in a while I repeat it just to torment her.

In other news...

I passed my test!!!

:D

Ah, All Is Revealed

Wait

Wait

The Macarena by Los Del Rio is the number one most awesomely bad song to ever make it to #1 on the billboard charts.

Now I will go kill myself.

Oh. My. God.

'Ice, Ice Baby' was the #2 most awesomely bad song to ever reach #1 on the charts (according to VH1).

I think I have to go and kill myself, because if it holds the 2nd place distinction, I can't even comprehend what beat it out.

Question

Does anyone else think that Martha Stewart's house arrest isn't a punishment at all?

"I've been away so long! I can redo the paint schemes in all the rooms to jumpsuit orange! And I need to get back into practicing my radish rosettes!"

Wow

I have a lot of books.

Putting my books away from the huge bookcase in my room. My brother has said when I move out he wants my room back [because it is the larger of the two].

Three very full boxes so far. With four more shelves to go.

I want them safe in the basement because I'll be damned if Chris is going to mess up the room like Greg messed up my room when I went off to college.

New Motto

for Megan and I

YCMTSU

=

You Can't Make This Shit Up

Just trading stories about our particular professions and how some of it is so ridiculous, it simply must be true.

In other news:

Prayers and sacrifices are now being accepted for my upcoming examination.

Please
Give 'till it hurts.

So

I'm feeling old

My youngest brother is turning 18 at the end of the month. His birthday present from me will be a tattoo. But that is another story.

Today he received the second part of a state college application.

He asked if I would write it for him.
He was joking.
Mostly.

Besides, if he had any sense he would have asked my english major mother to write it for him.
Not that she would have in a million years.
It would have been funny though :)

Why I Love Shawn

Part two

Shawn: OMG YES! He'd have to deal with me and my motherfucking ice pick.

Ah the random bits of bodily violence that simply must be shared via TM.

Glorious.
Simply glorious.

Snow

I hate driving in it
I hate shoveling it
I hate waking up early to dig out my car

Frickin' snow
